Haemobartonella felis

Sir —Haemobartonella felis is an organism thought by some to be a rickettsia. It infects cats and is found in the bloodstream on the surlace of the erythrocytes. Infection with H. felis causes a haemolytic anaemia and, where its occurrence has been recognized, it is said to be the most common cause of anaemia in cats. The infection is thought to be transmitted by fleas.
