CitationJosland (1954) published the results of a vaccination trial with sheep, using as a vaccine a formalinized dose of Salmonella typhimurium by itself, or the same material incorporated in various adjuvants. It was concluded from this study that, “Although the results suggest that vaccination afforded some degree of protection, an insufficient number of vaccinated animals showed evidence of protection to have statistical significance, or to warrant use of the vaccine as a means of protecting sheep against this disease in the field”.
