Abortion associated with mycotic infection in sheep

Pages 85-86 | Received 07 Dec 1966, Published online: 23 Feb 2011

Abstract

Extract

Several different species of fungi have been incriminated as agents capable of causing abortion in cattle (Ainsworth and Austwick, Citation1959). In sheep, however, no recorded instance of abortion due to fungal invasion of the allantochorion could be found in the literature. This paper describes an outbreak of suspected mycotic abortion in ewes.
