An unusual urethral defect in a dog

Pages 152-154 | Received 02 May 1969, Published online: 23 Feb 2011

Abstract

Extract

Canine urethral disorders, with the exception of obstruction with uroliths, are not commonly reported in veterinary literature. The reason for this may be that the conditions are either rare or are difficult to diagnose. The latter seems more likely as, in recent years, newer radiographic techniques have allowed a more complete examination of the canine urethra and, as a consequence, more urethral defects are being found (CitationGoulden, 1966, Citation1968). When using one of these techniques, micturating urography, an unusual urethral defect was observed in a four-year-old Welsh Corgi bitch.
