Abstract

Extract

In a recent field study, Brunsdon Citation(1968) showed that ostertagiasis in dairy calves is a potential source of considerable economic loss to the livestock industry. This work has highlighted the deficiencies in the knowledge pertaining to this and other trichostrongyle infections in cattle under New Zealand conditions. Furthermore, the existing parasite problems in cattle are likely to increase as a result of the current expansion of the dairy beef industry.
