Phalaris tuberosa, a common pasture plant, may on occasions cause inco-ordination (staggers) and/or death in sheep and cattle (CitationMcDonald, 1942; CitationLe Soeuf, 1948; CitationLee and Kuchel, 1953; CitationMilne, 1955; CitationWatson, 1956; CitationMoore et al, 1961; CitationGallagher et al, 1964). Acutetoxicity may be manifested by sudden death(CitationMoore et al, 1961; CitationGallagher et al, 1964; CitationGallagher et al, 1967), due to arhythmic tachycardias and ventricular fibrillations with cardiac failure (CitationGallagher etal, 1964).
