Abstract

Extract

Sir,—The isolation of leptospires from contaminated specimens or cultures is difficult. Many mechanical and chemical methods have been tried. Galton et al. (Citation1962) suggested inoculation of culture media from serial dilutions, and the report of the WHO Expert Group (1967) mentioned the use of chemically defined media, 5-fluoruracil, plating media or animal inoculation. These have been tried with indifferent results in this laboratory.
