This paper deals with some factors of a practical nature which need to be considered by veterinarians in accident cases, with special reference to anaesthesia and intensive care. One investigation of anaesthetic deaths in the human field showed that with every fatality there was an. average of 4.2 human errors, and that, when the crisis did develop, it was mismanaged in 48% of the cases. We cannot afford to be complacent.
