Abstract

Extract

A biphasic increase in vascular permeability occurs following turpentine and thermal injury in the sheep; an early phase seems to be mediated by histamine (CitationLancaster and Vegad, 1967; CitationVegad, 1971). In contrast, mediation of the delayed phase, which appears to be the major part of the response, remains uncertain. This is similar to the situation in the rat (CitationSpector and Willoughby, 1965) and the guinea-pig (CitationWilhelm, 1965).
