During the last decade significant advances have been made in the control of oestrus and ovulation in domestic animals and this topic has been reviewed many times within that period (Hansel, Citation1964; Robinson, Citation1967; Jochie, Citation1969; Mauleon, Citation1974). This paper compares the advantages and disadvantages of the major methods for oestrus control and discusses the major overall problems associated with this control.
