Infectious anaemia of chickens in Australia

Page 252 | Published online: 23 Feb 2011

Summary

A disease outbreak occurred in broiler flocks which exhibited the signs and lesions typical of infectious anaemia and gangrenous dermatitis. Staphylococcus aureus was isolated from the skin lesions. Attempts to isolate virus in embryonated eggs were unsuccessful. The treatment with antibiotics did not alter the course of the disease but there was less mortality in erythromycin-treated groups.
