Pages 130-131 | Published online: 23 Feb 2011

Abstract

This communication reports the occurrence of Salmonella typhimurium in a calf from a red deer herd and Salmonella bovis-morbificans in a recently captured red deer calf. Both animals displayed marked nervous symptoms after stimulation.

Salmonella typhimurium was isolated from the liver, lung, ileum and thyroid of the first case and Salmonella bovis-morbificans from the liver of the second.

The histopathological findings were consistent with an acute septicaemia.
