At least this should be the trend since 1 August when greyhound-racing was officially elevated from sport to industry, with on-course totalisator betting allowed for the first time. The in-augural meeting was held at Mount Smart Stadium in Auckland on 15September. Whilst the two Auckland clubs of Awatea and Auckland will share 15 of the 60 permits granted, the rest are divided as follows:—Northland 3, Taranaki 5, Palmerston North 8, Wellington 8, Wairarapa 3, Christchurch 12 and Southland 6.
