Madam: — Last month the Council of NZVA included a new addition in the Guide to Professional Conduct. I wonder how many members were ever aware that a new addition was being considered. For, in this instance, Council did not follow the normal protocol of seeking opinions from the whole profession (as they have recently done on the issue of touting). Instead, late last year, submissions were sought from a limited number of individuals and groups on the addition V111.25 Unorthodox Medicine and Methods. Yet neither an opinion nor a submission was sought from the NZ Holistic Veterinary Group. The first time the addition was brought to the attention of members was as a brief paragraph in the latest Vetscript…after the addition had been adopted.
