A hairy shaker disease outbreak occurred on a Southland farm in spring 1992 in a flock of 100 2-year-old ewes and 350 older ewes. About 80 of the 2-year-old ewes produced lambs that were small and coarse-fleeced but robust. Most of these lambs were born early in the season. The lambs born later in the season appeared normal.
