A Custom-Made Easy-To-Wear Patch

Abstract

A light-tight, easy-to-wear custom-made patch which the author has been successfully using for over twenty years is described. Parents of amblyopic patients are provided a four-step procedure for making the patch from new or used denim. The procedure is illustrated with drawings and documented with photographs. Variations used by parents regarding patch size and tape arrangement are also shown on patients of different ages, both with and without glasses. The patch is well accepted and enjoys many advantages, including comfort, light tightness and low cost.
