Abstract

There are three stages in the intraoperative adjustment of eye muscle surgery performed under general anesthesia: the first stage, at the beginning of surgery, consists of adjusting the amount of surgery to be done based upon the alignment of the eyes and whether that alignment agrees or disagrees, and by how much, with the expected values based upon the formula A = 0.8P + 30.

Stage II and III adjustments are performed at the end of surgery. They consist of adjusting the length of the eye muscle suture and the alignment of the eyes according to Bedrossian's method and the formula A = 0.8P + 30 for orthotropia, respectively.
