Abstract
Appropriate vision screening is one of the most important factors in pediatric eye health care. Pediatricians and family practitioners need guidelines regarding frequency of vision screening, equipment required, and testing techniques. A detailed survey of vision screening methods and referral criteria by primary care physicians was performed. The principles of vision screening are presented in view of recent screening recommendations and referral criteria developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics in conjunction with the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
