Abstract

Charts from 30 patients with the diagnosis of double elevator palsy (DEP) were reviewed. True ptosis was found in 17 or 56.6%. Of the 17 patients with ptosis, five also demonstrated the Marcus-Gunn “jaw winking” phenomenon. The associated findings of double elevator palsy, true ptosis, and Marcus-Gunn jaw winking phenomenon are not widely recognized and its association with DEP may help in the understanding of the etiology of some types of DEP.
