Overaction of the Superior Oblique Muscle: Some Nosologic Considerations

, M.D.
Pages 82-86 | Published online: 05 Apr 2018

Abstract

Mechanisms that underlie overdepression of the eye in adduction, the so-called superior oblique overaction, are multiple. The various pathophysiologic processes involved remain incompletely defined, some more so than others. The clinical settings in which overdepression of the eye in adduction is encountered will be discussed, with emphasis on the putative pathophysiologic mechanisms underlying each.
