Abstract
Patterns of seasonal herbaceous biomass change in a burned, ungrazed savanna woodland are reported. A standard clipping technique was used and material formed in the current season was separated from that formed in the previous season for three perennial grass species: Brachiaria nigropedata, Andropogon gayanus and Aristida stipitata. Different regression formulae were applied to characterize seasonal trends in total biomass, decrease oí previos season's biomass during the growing season and increase in current season's biomass. Regression formulae were used in combination to determine pattern of decrease of current season's biomass.

Die verandering van biomassa in ‘n gebrande maar anbeweide savanna plantegroei word gegee. ‘n Standaard snymetode is gebruik en materiaal wat in die lopende seisoen gevorm is, is van dié wat in die vorige seisoen gevorm is vir die drie grassoorte Brachiaria nigropedata, Andropogon gayanus en Aristida stipitata geskei. Verkseie regressie formules is bereken om die aanwas van totale biomassa, afname van vorige seisoens‐biomassa gedurende die groeiseisoen en toename van lopende seisoens‐biomassa te beskryf. Regressie formules is gekombineer om die verandering in biomassa te bepaal.
