Ontblaring is noodsaaklik indien die produksievermoë van Portulacaria afra verhoog wil word. Resultate toon dat ontblaringintensiteite waarskynlik nie laer as 25% en nie hoër as 50% moet wees nie. Seisoen van ontblaring is uiters belangrik by die handhawing van ‘n hoë produksie by genoemde spesie. Resultate toon dat blaarproduksie en die tempo waarteen dit geproduseer word, asook lootvermeerdering asook tempo, by P. afra geweldig laag en stadig is.
Abstract
Defoliation is essential in order to increase the production potential of Portulacaria afra. Results indicate that defoliation intensity should range between 25% and 50% and that the season of defoliation is particularly important in maintaining the high production of the species. A relatively low level and rate of production and initiation of leaves and shoots respectively is recorded for P. afra.
