Wrestling with the whirlwind: An approach to the understanding of ADD/ADHD

Pages 253-266 | Published online: 07 Jan 2008

Abstract

This paper aims to address some of the difficulties consequent on the diagnosis of ADD/ADHD. It suggests that this is a rather over-diagnosed condition and that a wrong diagnosis is likely to result in ineffective treatment. It goes on to suggest parallel child psychotherapeutic and neurobiological understandings of the core condition and to suggest conditions required for its successful treatment. There are a number of case examples.
