Abstract
Scanning electron microscope studies of the head (dorsum) and terminalia (male, female) of Micromus tasmaniae (Walker, 1860), M. bifasciatus Tillyard, 1923 and Drepanacra binocula (Newman, 1838) are presented for comparison. In the genus Micromus the two previously described varieties of M. tasmaniae (Walker, 1860), var. manapouriensis Tillyard, 1923 and var. nigroscriptus Tillyard, 1923 are transferred to M. bifasciatus Tillyard, 1923 on the basis of their genitalic characters. In the genus Drepanacra, the genitalia (male, female) are redescribed for the single known species, D. binocula (Newman, 1898), based on New Zealand specimens of the variety humilis and others. A secondary sexual character in the anterior wings of this species is described.
