A checklist of New Zealand Cerambycidae (Insecta: Coleoptera), excluding Lamiinae

&

ABSTRACT

We provide a comprehensive list of species of Cerambycidae (Insecta: Coleoptera), excluding Lamiinae, known to be present in New Zealand. We also reinstate the following genera: Drotus, Epheus, Navomorpha, Pseudocalliprason and Stenopotes; all of these are monotypic except for Navomorpha, which has four described species. Coptomma marrisi is tranferred to Navomorpha (new combination). Full synonymies are given for all species.

The authors sincerely thank Dr Rowan Emberson for invaluable comments on an earlier version of this manuscript and for drawing Blanchard (Citation1846) to our attention. We are grateful to John Marris and Adam Ślipiński for their formal review of the submitted manuscript. As a result of their input, this work is considerably improved. JB thanks the late Dr G (Willy) Kuschel and the late RH (Bob) Milligan for helpful discussions on cerambycid taxonomy. The fact that these occurred in the 1970s has not diminished their value.
