RIASSUNTO
Sono stati esaminati esemplari di Urginea maritima (L.) Bak. provenienti da varie località dell'area mediterranea. In esemplari turchi vengono segnalati per la prima volta individui pentaploidi.
SUMMARY
Investigations on the specimens of Urginea maritima (L.) Bak. show that the degree of polyploidy found in the plants from island of Elba, Campania, Apulia, Sicily, Malta and Israel is in agreement with bibliographical data previously reported for these localities. On the island of Capraia have been observed diploid individuals next to tetraploid individuals reported by BATTAGLIA (1964). Plants from Lampedusa, Egadi islands and Libia have been studied for the first time. The Turkish specimens have shown pentaploidy which had never been reported before for this species. For a general up-to-date cytogeographical outline of Urginea maritima (L.) Bak., various degrees of polyploidy found in the different Mediterranean localities have been reported in fig. 1. adding bibliographical data to those in this paper.
