The authors point out the first finding in Southern Apulia (Torre Minervino and S. Cesarea Terme) of Ephedra campylopoda C.A. Meyer, a species up to now known for the eastern districts of the Mediterranea region. Details on floral morphology and biology are given, and the specific rank of this taxon is confirmed; a recent introduction by birds is also assumed.
