This study is about the West Mediterranean Astragalus tragacantha complex. Three entities are here recognized on morphological and geographical basis: A. thermensis sp. nov. of the Northern Sardinia and Sicily (?), A. terraccianoi sp. nov. of Sardinia and Corsica and A. tragacantha of the Southern France, Spain and Portugal. These entities are three spiny cushion-shaped xerophyta that differ one from each other mainly for the kind of hair-covering; for the presence of unequally or equally bifurcate hairs; for the leaflets number and shape; for the stipules, bracts, bracteoles and for the calyx and legume morphology.
