Recent investigations permitted to make clear the systematic identity and the status of Kleinia mandraliscae Tin., a succulent composite whose description was based on specimens coming from Vulcano Island (Aeolian Archipelago). It is a taxon of South-African origin, well known and cultivated world-wide as an ornamental plant. Probably introduced in the Aeolian Islands during the mid of XIX century, it underwent there a short period of naturalisation. Moreover, the investigations carried out in several Italian herbaria led to identify of the neotypus of this plant among the Florence Herbarium (FI) exsiccata.
