Abstract

The faecal pellets of chitons are shed in the forms of spheroid, ovoid or ellipsoid with no surface sculpturings. They are quite simple in external characteristics, but show to some extent generic or specific differences in proportion of length to breadth of the pellets. Clear-cut distinction is demonstrated between the pellets shed b carnivorous mopalids and those of debris feeding chiton groups.
