Dissent of the Muslims: Soviet Central Asia in the 1980s∗

What follows, in part is based on the impressions gained from conversations of Afghan Mujahidin with some of the Central Asian component of the Soviet Armed forces in the earlier stages of their invasion of Afghanistan in December, 1979. Later, the Central Asians were substantially withdrawn from Afghanistan after their fraternalization with the Afghans.
