Hand, Wrist, and Forearm Injuries in Baseball

Abstract

Almost all phases of baseball can injure the hands—throwing, catching, sliding into the bases, running into another player or the outfield fence. Hand injuries must have expert treatment to avoid long-term disability.

Dr. Haycock is associate professor of surgery at the New Jersey Medical School of the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and chief of the division of trauma at the school's College Hospital, Newark. She is a fellow in the American College of Sports Medicine.
