Abstract

In brief: Coaches of most youth sports programs are usually volunteers with little or no expertise or training in injury management. A Michigan pilot program used the integrated skills of a local Red Cross chapter, an emergency medical services system, and a sports medicine unit to devise a clinic in injury management for coaches of youth sports. A manual tailored to youth sports injury problems was written for the clinic. The success of the clinic has meant better coaching and program expansion.
