Abstract
Polymeric materials have been used for wide range of applications in the modern medicine, as much of them are biocompatible with blood, tissues, cells and in the human body. In the present work, we prepared thiolated chitosan (TCS) immobilized–amino acid intercalated montmorillonite (AM-MMT) as a drug carrier vehicle for the controlled release of timolol maleate. The different stages of the preparation of drug carrier were characterized and controlled release of the drug were studied at SGF (pH 1.2) and SIF (pH 7.4). The release profile depicts the potential of the material as a promising candidate for drug delivery.
