Abstract
Male sexual dysfunctions associated with antidepressant medication have been frequently reported. Much less common, however, are reports of sexual problems in women who are taking antidepressants. A case of anorgasmia secondary to trazodone is presented. The literature regarding female sexual dysfunctions due to antidepressants is reviewed.
Anorgasmia can be a complication associated with antidepressants. Despite the implication of antidepressants in its etiology, anorgasmia has had little focus of attention in the psychiatric literature. Thus, it is important for clinicians to ascertain the patient's sexual function, both prior to the onset of the mood disorder and during treatment because such side effects may foster noncompliance.
