Abstract

Let ℛ be a 2-torsion free unital prime ring containing a nontrivial idempotent element. Let δ be a map of ℛ into itself satisfying

for all a, b ∈ ℛ, or
for all a, b ∈ ℛ. Then δ is a derivation.
