A note on the Weitzenböck problem in dimension four

Pages 588-596 | Received 26 Dec 2016, Published online: 14 Jun 2017

ABSTRACT

Let k be an algebraically closed field of characteristic two and let 𝔾a be the additive group of k. Given any non-trivial representation ρ:𝔾aGL(4,k), we let 𝔾a act linearly, via ρ, on the polynomial ring k[x1,x2,x3,x4] in four variables over k. Then we prove that the invariant ring k[x1,x2,x3,x4]𝔾a is isomorphic to the polynomial ring in three variables over k.
