ABSTRACT

Let be a ring with an involution ∗ and k a positive integer. The k-skew Lie product of a,b is defined by [a,b]k=[a,[a,b]k1]1, where [a,b]0=b and [a,b]1=abba. In this paper, some useful properties of the k-skew Lie products on prime *-rings are given. Then, as an application of these results, k-skew commuting additive maps on prime *-rings are characterized.
