PATRICIA K. TOWNSEND is Research Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University at Buffalo. She has published college textbooks in medical and environmental anthropology, and articles and reports from her fieldwork in Papua New Guinea, Peru, and the United States. Her current research interests center on the impact of copper mining.
