Abstract
The results of a study of some of the reaction variables (time, temperature, isomer distribution, and solvents) of the 1,4-cycloaddition reaction of methylphosphonous dichloride and butadiene to form 1-methylphospholene-1-oxides are reported and a simplified work-up procedure for the latter is suggested. 31P nmr and mass spectra of the isomeric 1-methylphospholene-1-oxides are presented.
