Abstract

A new solid fluoroperoxo species of vanadium has been synthesised fox the first time, starting from vanadium pentoxide, potassium fluoride and hydrogen peroxide around a pH of 4. The dried solid has the molar ratios of V : OA : F : K as 1:2:1:2. The IR spectrum shows the presence of the vanadyl group (960 cm−1), the diperoxo group (900 and 880 cm−1) and a vanadyl-fluorine stretching vibration (475 cm−1) in it. The yellow coloured crystalline solid is represented as K2[V0(02)2F] and named as potassium oxofluorodiperoxovanadate(V).
