Trifluoroacetates of Vanadium(III) and Oxovbnadlum (IV) and (V) Preparation and Characterization

Abstract

Vanadium(III) trifluoroacetate., V(O₂CCF₃)₃, 1, oxovanadium(IV) trifluoroacetate; VO(O₂, CCF₃)₂, 11, and dioxovanadium(V) trifluoroacetate; VO₂(O₂CCF₃), III, have been prepared by refluxing VCl₃, VOCl₂ and VOCl₃, respectively, with CF₃CO₂H. I and II have also been prepared by an acid-exchange method, i.e., by refluxing V(O₂CCH₃) or VO(O₂, CCH₃)₂ with CF₃CO₂H. The conipounds have been characterlzed by elemental and thermal analyses, i.r. and reflectance spectra and magnetic susceptibilities.
