Abstract
Eight bis(β-diketonato)palladium(II) chelates containing unsymmetrical β-diketonate ligands having a fluorocarbon substituent and either a methyl 2′-thienyl or phenyl substituent have been synthesized. The compounds of which six are novel have been characterized by their elemental analysis and by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. NMR and dipole moment data indicate that the compounds coexist in solution as cis and trans isomers. A HPLC separation of one of the cis/trans mixtures is reported and their UV-Visible spectra are reported.
