Abstract
The synthesis of CsPuF5 and Cs2PuF6 from non-aqueous media has been reported. The experimental procedure involves mixing of calculated volumes of solutions of PuF4 and CsF in dimethyl- or diethylammonium acetate, distilling off the excess solvent and washing the compounds with ethanol. CsPuF5 has also been prepared by precipitation from an alcoholic solution of cesium plutonium chloride treated with diethyl-ammonium acetate and with a solution of hydrofluoric acid gas in ethanol. The X-ray analysis of the two compounds does not indicate the presence of any free CsF or PuF4.
