Abstract
Complexes of the types [M(HL)2(X)2] (where M = Mn(II) or Co(II), HL = quinoline-2-aldoxime (Hqox) or isoquinoline-3-aldoxime (Hiqox) and X = Cl−, Br−, I−, NCS−, NCSe−, OAc−, or 1/2 SO4 −) and [M(HL)2(NO3)](NO3), (where M = Mn(II) or Co(II); and HL = Hqox or Hiqox) have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductance, molecular weight determinotion, X-ray powder diffraction, variable temperature magnetic susceptibility, reflectance and IR spectral data. These studies suggest a dimeric halo-bridged cis distorted octahedral structure for[M(HL)2(X)2] (where M = Mn(II) or Co(II), HL = Hqox or Hiqox and X = Cl−, Br− or I−) complexes and a monomeric cis-pseudo octahedral structure for the remaining complexes.
