Methods of preparation of alkyl and aryl difluoro-phosphoranes are reviewed. Routes starting from alkyl and aryl phosphanes and using SF4 as fluorinating agent or starting from alkyl and aryl dibromo phosphoranes and exchanging bromine for fluorine were used to prepare new members of the title compound class.
