Abstract
The ligand, 3,3′-bis(5-imino-δ2-1,4,2-oxathiazoline), OT, has been prepared by the reaction of dichloroglyoxime with potassium thiocyanate and characterized by its spectral data and elemental analysis. Reactions of OT with Zn2+, Fe2+ Cu2+ and Ni2+ led to the formation of the following complexes: Zn(OT)Cl2, Fe(OT)Cl22H2O, Cu(OT)Cl2H2O and Ni(OT)Cl2.2H2O. All the complexes were characterized by their infra-red spectra, magnetic moments, elemental analysis, electrical conductance and decomposition points. Comparison of the infra-red spectra of the free ligand with those of the corresponding metal complexes indicates bonding via the nitrogen donor atoms.
