Abstract
Fifteen alkyl acyloin derivatives of ferrocene have been prepared by hydrolysis of 2-ferrocenyl-2-(1-hydroxy-alky)-1, 3-dithiane in good yields. The products were characterized by elemental analysis, IR and PMR spectra. The effect of the structure of the reactant on the reaction is discussed.
