Polychelates of Bis-Semicarbazone of 5,5′-Methylene Bis-Salicylaldehyde with VO2+, Mn(II), Cr(III), Fe(III), and Zn(II)

Abstract

Polymeric metal chelates of bis-semicarbazones of 5,5′-methylenebis-salicylaldehyde with VO+2, Mn(II), Zn(II), Cr(III) and Fe(III) were prepared. These complexes have been characterised by elemental analysis, infrared and reflectance (visible) spectral studies and magnetic moment measurements. All the polychelates have 1:1 metal:ligand stoichiometry. The complexes are proposed to have octahedral geometry. The Zn(II) polychelate is diamagnetic while the others have sub-normal magnetic moments.
