Abstract
Complexes of the type ML2 of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with sodium 2-[4-amino-5-ethyl-3-(1,2,4-triazo-lylazo)] naphthol-4-sulphonate (AEtTN-4S≡LNa) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility measurements, thermogravimetric analyses, infrared and electronic spectral data. All the complexes have six-coordinated, high-spin, tetragonally distorted octahedral geometry. For all the complexes coordination occurs via the azo nitrogen, amino nitrogen and hydroxyl oxygen. Various ligand field parameters for the complexes were also evaluated.
